Claudine B. Malone and White bring both business and technical expertise to the board, and will help shape Novell's direction as it continues its ambitious transition to become a leader in open, standards-based computing.

"Kathy White and Claudine Malone are two individuals who really understand what makes a business successful. Their input will be important in helping Novell move forward to stake a leadership claim in the next wave of computing," said Jack Messman, chairman and CEO of Novell. "Kathy has held senior IT leadership positions in health and technology companies, and so has the end-user perspective of the audience Novell is working to serve. With her vast experience as a director of many leading companies, running her own business, and in academia, Claudine will be a great strategist for Novell as we move into new areas, with a new model leveraging open source technologies. Adding two such strong members to the board will help Novell significantly."
