Firm cites Novell ZENworks' solid offerings today and ZENworks Configuration Management enhancements for tomorrow
Novell today announced its systems management solution, Novell® ZENworks® Suite, was recognized as a strong performer in the July 2007 report, The Forrester Wave: Client Management Suites, Q3 '07. In analyzing ZENworks, the report states, "The product offers ample features in the areas of operating system (OS), software, and systems management, including flexible software distribution capabilities, desired state management, and robust OS imaging and deployment options."
"Novell ZENworks Suite has the broadest OS support in our evaluation. Its management server can run on all flavors of servers, its desktop client can run on a variety of Windows and Linux platforms with some capabilities available to Mac and UNIX," writes Natalie Lambert, senior analyst at Forrester Research. "This self-remediating system allows IT administrators to set policy once and forget it -- a comment made by many of Novell’s customers," she added in reference to ZENworks' identity-based policy management.
In this overall evaluation, Novell ZENworks Suite's top scores were for cost, planned product enhancements, services and channel partners. The report also notes planned features for Novell ZENworks Configuration Management, currently in beta, will further enhance the Novell offering. According to the report, "Novell has a vision of security and management joined at the hip and hence is working to bring security features into its management solution."
"Throughout the years, Novell has strived to provide customers with products that meet their management needs, while helping them lower costs and reduce complexity in their IT environment," said Richard Whitehead, director of product marketing at Novell. "We're thrilled that Forrester Research, one of the IT industry's leading analyst firms, sees the value Novell brings to these categories and understands our vision for systems management."
The Forrester Wave Report is a product-based evaluation of leading client management vendors across 98 criteria in the areas of current offerings, strategy and market presence.
