Data Tools uses a REST-based file service API to access, move, and edit data files located on remote servers. If you have an
Enterprise Developer product installed, you can use the file service API to open, modify and save data files in the
Record Editor.
The file service API supports the following functions when using the command line:
- Request file information from local and remote data servers
- Create new files with specific parameters
- Edit data files
Restriction: The file service is only available on Windows and AIX platforms.
