Tutorials: HCO for SQL Server (HCOSS)

The HCO for SQL Server tutorials provide you with an opportunity to use the HCOSS toolset to perform a DB2 database migration, and to use the Mainframe Batch Database Tools (MBDT) to perform a DB2 database migration. They also provide three different scenarios in which you migrate a DB2 application to a SQL Server application.

Note: These tutorials assume that you are not using Windows UAC.

Prerequisite Third-party Software

To complete any of the HCOSS tutorials, you must have Microsoft SQL Server, including the SQL Server Management Studio, installed. See Additional Software Requirements on Windows for details.

Requirements

To complete any of the DB2 Database Migration or Application Migration tutorials, you must first complete the following tutorials in the order listed:

  1. Tutorial: Create a SQL Server Database
  2. Tutorial: Create a SQL Server Database Connection

Additional requirements that apply to specific tutorials appear in the Requirements section of each.

DB2 Database Migration Tutorials

We provide two DB2 migration tutorials to from which to choose. Both take you through the steps of migrating a DB2 database to a SQL Server database:
  • Tutorial: DB2 Database Migration
  • Tutorial: DB2 Database Batch Migration

Application Migration Tutorials

To complete any of the Application Migration tutorials, you must have an established SQL Server database named HCO_Test containing the required PROD and TEST schemas, and a connection to the HCO_Test database. You can accomplish this by completing Tutorial: DB2 Database Migration, or, as a short cut, completing the Tutorial: Setup for Application Migration Tutorials instead. The Application Migration tutorials include:
  • Tutorial: Setup for Application Migration Tutorials
  • Tutorial: Application Migration - Switching Package Sets
  • Tutorial: Application Migration - Converting Labeled Duration Calculations
  • Tutorial: Application Migration - Adding Function Emulation
