How this Documentation Differs From Earlier Versions

The documentation on this CD contains an updated version of the book-set in HTML format. These HTML books contain new information on topics that are not applicable to versions earlier than V4.1.20, and contain fixes for any errors identified in the original versions of the documentation. The documentation supplied in Adobe Acrobat format is unchanged. The changes contained in the HTML books are described in the following sections.

Additional Topics

The following topics were added to the books for Version 4.1.20, and are not relevant to earlier versions of Object COBOL:

• Client/server binding, described in the chapter Client/Server Binding in the Programmer's Guide to Communications
  
  
• File striping and large file (over 2 Gbyte) handling, described in the chapter Callable File Handler (ExtFH) in the Programmer's Guide to File Handling

Micro Focus has withdrawn support for the COBOL Distributed Computing Environment (DCE), therefore:

• The book COBOL DCE Programmer's Guide and Reference is not supplied
