Internal Functions

Internal functions are part of the Relativity DBMS. An internal function is used to synthesize a COBOL data item using the value or values of one or more other COBOL data items within the same COBOL file definition (FD). A synthesized COBOL data item, known as a function item, may be used as any other COBOL data item. Unlike a transform, an internal function may operate on more than one COBOL data item.

The following internal functions can be added to an FD form.

AirlineDate
AirlineDate is a specialized internal function that computes a date from an "airline travel date", a transaction date, and a transaction type.
CombineDateTime
The CombineDateTime internal function allows two data items to be combined into a single date/time stamp value.
Complement
The Complement internal function performs a conditional arithmetic complement on a data item.
ComputeCenturyDate
The ComputeCenturyDate internal function computes a date from data items and/or constants containing the century, the year of the century, the month, and the day of the month or year.
ComputeCenturyDateTime
The ComputeCenturyDateTime internal function computes a date and time data item from data items and/or constants containing the century, the year, the month, the day of the month or year and optional data items or constants containing the hour or the day, the minute of the hour, the second of the minute, and the hundredth of the second.
ComputeDate
The ComputeDate internal function computes a date from data items and/or constants containing the year, the month, and the day of the month.
ComputeDateTime
The ComputeDateTime internal function computes a date and time data item from data items and/or constants containing the year, the month, the day of the month or year and optional data items or constants containing the hour or the day, the minute of the hour, the second of the minute, and the hundredth of the second.
ComputeODO
The ComputeODO internal function computes an occurrence count from the record length, the record offset of the (single) argument, and the length and span of the argument. The argument must be a repeating data item at the end of the record.
ComputeTime
The ComputeTime internal function computes a time data item from data items and/or constants containing the hour of the day, the second of the minute, and the hundredth of the second.
IsNumeric
The IsNumeric internal function evaluates the data item supplied as an argument to determine whether its value is a valid numeric value.
IsValidDate
The IsValidDate internal function evaluates the data item supplied as an argument to determine whether its value conforms to that item's date transform.
LogicalAnd
The LogicalAnd internal function does a logical "and" operation on two to twenty 88-level condition-names or logical internal functions (IsNumeric, LogicalAnd, LogicalOr).
LogicalOr
The LogicalOr internal function does a logical "or" operation on two to twenty 88-level condition-names or logical internal functions (IsNumeric, LogicalAnd, LogicalOr).
