Installation on Windows (Known Issues)

A 64-bit Windows OS is required. This product will not install on a 32-bit Windows.
If you are upgrading from Visual COBOL 2.2 or earlier, you must uninstall Micro Focus license manager before installing the product. The setup files does not upgrade the License Manager automatically to the latest version. You must uninstall the existing version before you start the installation.

When installing into other instances of Eclipse you must use the Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers package. This includes all the tools that Visual COBOL requires. See Installing Visual COBOL into other instances of Eclipse.

T he installer on Windows will automatically start the Enterprise Server Common Web Administration (ESCWA) service as part of the installation process. When using the Japanese system locale on the Windows operating system, the ESCWA service does not start automatically. During the installation process you might be required to press Retry to complete a successful product install. Even after a successful product install, ESCWA does not start until you have installed a valid license.
Note: This issue does not affect Visual COBOL 5.0 and earlier because ESCWA is not started automatically.
