You can access Development Hub in order to edit, compile, debug and run your COBOL applications in one of the following ways:
Use a terminal emulator such as Micro Focus Rumba to connect to the UNIX or Linux machine where Development Hub is installed to access your sources.
Once you are connected to the remote machine, you need to set the COBOL environment - see Set up the product.
In this scenario, you need Micro Focus Visual COBOL for Eclipse installed and licensed on a local development machine.
You create a remote connection in Visual COBOL to the UNIX or Linux machine where Development Hub is installed. Then, you can access your COBOL sources by either opening the files in Eclipse as standalone files or creating an Eclipse COBOL project and adding the source files to it.
See the Visual COBOL product help for more details on how to develop applications remotely using Eclipse.
Log in directly to the remote UNIX or Linux machine and execute any commands for editing, compiling or debugging from a terminal. Micro Focus does not recommend this scenario as in most cases direct user access to the remote UNIX or Linux machine will be restricted.
Once you are logged onto the remote machine, start a terminal and set the COBOL environment - see Set up the product.
