Novell, Inc., the leading provider of Net services software, today introduced Novell® OnDemand Services 1.5 - new technology to help enterprises and service providers provision applications and other digital content securely and efficiently to their employees, business partners and customers across the Net. The new version of Novell OnDemand Services integrates thin-client technology from Novetrix, acquired by Novell today, into Novell NDS® eDirectory allowing customers to seamlessly utilize Web and Windows-based applications and other content across multiple independent networks, with only a browser required as the user interface. As a result, customers are able to simplify the management of network resources, secure availability and quality of service, and accelerate the deployment of new applications throughout the Net. Through Novell OnDemand Services, service providers will have the ability to generate new revenue streams by providing value-added services to their subscribers. Enterprise customers benefit from centralized management, reduced network costs, and increased productivity as mobile users have access to corporate applications from anywhere they connect to the Net. Novell OnDemand Services 1.5 is in Beta release with general availability scheduled for April.

No Novell Client software is required at the client machine. Novell OnDemand Services makes it simple and more cost-effective than ever before for service providers and enterprises to deploy and administer server-based thin-client software, and Web application and service provisioning. It deploys a set of unique services that dynamically creates user credentials and applies the access and security throughout the session, eliminating the need for costly and time-consuming set-up and administration.

Comprehensive Software Provisioning Solution
With the release of Novell OnDemand Services, Novell is positioned to build on its lead in the enterprise application provisioning market by extending services to the server-based computing market. To that end, Novell plans to offer a bundle of Novell OnDemand Services and Novell ZENworks® for Desktops giving organizations a comprehensive software provisioning solution. The combination of these products will give administrators the ability to manage and administer desktops, laptops and thin-client servers through a single management solution. Pricing and Availability
Novell OnDemand Services 1.5 is currently in Beta release and will be generally available to customers in April at $79.00 per seat. It will be offered through all Novell license programs, available through Novell channel and Consulting Systems Integrator partners. Novell is offering its ZENworks for Desktops 3.0 customers special add-on pricing of $42.00 per seat; this same price is also being offered to Citrix customers. Subscription-based pricing for Novell OnDemand Services will also be available at $4.00 per user per month.
