Novell, the leading provider of Net business solutions, today announced the appointment of Debra Bergevine to the position of Chief Marketing Officer. As the Company's first CMO, Bergevine will oversee the strategic direction and execution of Novell's global marketing initiatives, including brand management, product and solutions marketing, marketing communications, market research, analyst relations and field-based demand generation programs. Bergevine will report to Chris Stone, Vice Chairman - Office of the CEO. She will be based in Cambridge, Mass.
Most recently marketing vice president for Foliage Software Systems, Bergevine brings over twenty years of high-tech marketing and business experience to Novell. Prior to Foliage, she contributed to two successful start-up ventures. She was a co-founder and marketing vice president of Nextera Enterprises, growing the professional services firm to over $150 million in annual revenues within two years. While at Renaissance Worldwide, where she headed the company's marketing and shareholder relations efforts, the company experienced record-setting revenue and profit for ten consecutive quarters. Earlier in her career, Bergevine held executive level positions at Digital Equipment Corporation, including serving as Digital's global marketing director for its Professional Services division. Bergevine holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Clark University and a Master's degree from Boston University.
