Novell Names Fred Corrado to Board of Directors

Fred Corrado, the former vice chairman of the board and chief financial officer of one of North America's leading supermarket companies, The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company, Inc. (A&P), is joining Novell's board of directors, effective November 1. Corrado brings significant leadership and financial expertise to Novell, having served in critical board and executive positions for A&P as the company was reinvigorated through the 1990s.

Fred Corrado, the former vice chairman of the board and chief financial officer of one of North America's leading supermarket companies, The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company, Inc. (A&P), is joining Novell's board of directors, effective November 1. Corrado brings significant leadership and financial expertise to Novell, having served in critical board and executive positions for A&P as the company was reinvigorated through the 1990s. With the addition of Corrado to its board, Novell gains powerful, tested leadership and experience that will be critical as the company moves aggressively to build on its lead in the secure identity management, Web applications development, and cross-platform services markets.

Corrado, 62, joined A&P in 1987 as executive vice president and CFO, became a board member in 1990, and vice chairman in 1992. He helped drive A&P's improved financial performance over this period and was instrumental in building a strong leadership team through recruitment and development of senior executives. Prior to joining A&P, Corrado served in various financial and management positions over a 13-year stint at Standard Brands/Nabisco Brands. Corrado is a certified public accountant (CPA) in New York, chairman of the CFO Advisory Committee of Financial Executives International, and a member of the American Institute of CPAs. Corrado is also a member of the board of directors of both Covenant House and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. He was educated at Manhattan College and the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program.

Corrado becomes Novell's seventh board member, joining board chairman Messman and Elaine Bond, Richard Nolan, John Poduska, Sr., James Robinson III, and Carl Yankowski.
