Today Novell announced a series of key customer wins, new technology offerings, and community initiatives at its BrainShare Europe event in Barcelona. Under the new banner of Software for the Open Enterprise, Novell highlighted key solutions and products in five core customer IT areas: the desktop, data center, security and identity management, resource management, and workgroups. Software for the Open Enterprise leverages a unique, yet flexible, combination of open standards-based software to help customers manage, simplify, secure, and integrate heterogeneous IT environments at low cost. As a result, customers looking for ways to leverage the power and flexibility of open standards and open source can turn to Novell for a full range of enterprise solutions.

“Software for the Open Enterprise reflects the direction the industry is heading,” said Jack Messman, chairman and CEO of Novell. “Organizations worldwide are asking for flexibility, for freedom from vendor lock in, for openness. They want to regain control of their IT environments, and that's what we intend to help them accomplish.”

Organizations in today's fast-changing economy must become open enterprises – enterprises that can take advantage of best in class, open standards-based and open source software, at a pace that makes sense for them and their customers, employees and partners. Novell has unparalleled credentials for delivering software for the open enterprise. Its strong portfolio of products are all designed to work across multiple platforms, including Windows*, Linux* and key components of the open source stack. The combination of a comprehensive portfolio of products, two decades of enterprise software experience, and Novell's leadership role in open source and community based projects makes Novell uniquely positioned in the market to deliver solutions that address the needs of the open enterprise.
