New version of Novell Access Governance Suite simplifies control of information throughout the enterprise to ensure compliance
Novell today announced a new version of Novell® Access Governance Suite, a set of software products that simplifies how customers govern user access to corporate resources and manage regulatory compliance. A key part of Novell's WorkloadIQ™ vision, the product helps businesses address compliance and security challenges across physical, virtual, and cloud environments. Novell Access Governance Suite version 4.1 now includes Novell Access Request and Change Manager, a new solution to simplify granting user access to information and to close the compliance gaps caused by having multiple methods of requesting access.
Today, control of user access to resources can belong to anyone, whether internal or external to the organization and can be located anywhere, whether on-premise, hosted, or in the cloud. Therefore, it must be properly governed to ensure compliance. As a result, managing user access changes across the enterprise, like modifying permissions settings for a new role, is complex for many organizations. The sheer volume of change requests on a daily basis make it difficult for the IT department to keep pace with the needs of the business. This is forcing organizations to re-assess their provisioning strategies and look at complementary solutions that address the access certification process across the entire enterprise.
Novell Access Governance Suite 4.1 is now comprised of Novell Access Request and Change Manager, Novell Roles Lifecycle Manager, and Novell Compliance Certification Manager. Novell Access Governance Suite augments Novell's compliance management solution portfolio to provide the industry's first suite of products to govern access to sensitive corporate resources and address regulatory requirements across the entire user lifecycle. Used in conjunction with Novell Identity Manager 4 Advanced Edition and Novell Sentinel, the solution enables continuous enforcement of compliance requirements. Helping organizations achieve consistent identity, security and compliance policies is part of Novell's WorkloadIQ vision to integrate identity and security into IT workloads, giving customers the confidence and flexibility needed to deliver IT services across physical, virtual and cloud environments.
"New identity and access governance technologies, which often serve as the front-end component of the provisioning process, are taking on a more important role," said Lori Rowland, vice president and service director for Burton Group, acquired by Gartner, Inc. "They help organizations scale with growing business demands by pushing compliance tasks such as policy and entitlement review, access certification, and access-request functions to business users."
"Novell Access Governance Suite is another proof-point that demonstrates Novell's leadership in enabling the compliant, identity-infused enterprise. This helps companies strike the balance between business agility and control," said Jim Ebzery, senior vice president and general manager, Security, Management and Operating Platforms, Novell. "By adding Novell Access Request and Change Manager, customers can empower the right people in the organization to view, define and control who is accessing what applications. This drives operational improvements by eliminating IT bottlenecks and also simplifies compliance."
Novell Access Governance Suite is based on an OEM relationship between Novell and Aveksa, an access governance software vendor. By leveraging Novell's strengths in identity management, only Novell can offer an end-to-end solution from the initial access request through to the automated provisioning of that request.
"By partnering with Aveksa, Novell is able to solve the access challenge for organizations by providing an automated, policy-based and continuous process for governing user access to information resources," said Deepak Taneja, founder and president of Aveksa. "By adding Access Request and Change Manager, the new integrated offering dramatically speeds up the process of delivering access and managing user changes in an organization."
