Novell, Inc., the leading provider of Net services software, today announced immediate availability of Novell OnDemand Services software that makes eBusiness a reality for service providers, by enabling them to securely offer a wide-range of Net services, software, applications and content to their subscribers over the Web on a for-fee basis. Already, OnDemand Services are being successfully deployed by a growing number of ASPs and ISPs, including industry leaders such as Wizmo and Eureka Broadband. Both companies deployed Novell OnDemand Services in order to more rapidly grow their business, increase revenue, and effectively compete in the one Net economy. With OnDemand, Novell is well positioned to address the nascent Net services provider market and offer an attractive consumption-based pricing model that is ideal for companies that conduct business over the Web.

Based on the industry-leading directory, NDS eDirectory, Novell OnDemand Services dramatically reduces administration costs, and provides additional sources of revenue for service providers by allowing all users, user accounts and services to be managed from a single location. OnDemand also provides secure authentication and access management, thus dramatically simplifying the complexities of conducting eBusiness on the Net.

"As the service provider market continues to grow, the winners in this market will be defined by the range of distinguished services they can offer to their customers, and in the flexibility in which they are offered," said Paul Smart, vice president and general manager, Net Directory Services, Novell. "We are excited to see leading-edge service providers, like Wizmo and Eureka Broadband, adopt Novell OnDemand Services and other directory-enabled products to take advantage of these emerging opportunities. Novell OnDemand Services offers a full array of functionality designed specifically for those desiring to host, manage and bill for services in the Net."

Novell OnDemand Services Delivers Faster Time to Market, Return on Investment

Wizmo, a "click-and-go" ASP based in Minnesota, is using Novell OnDemand Services to create a virtual workplace for small and mid-sized businesses where traditional information technology, such as e-mail, calendaring and scheduling, and PC applications can be hosted, accessed, and billed for over the Internet. Novell OnDemand Services is making it possible for Wizmo to rent or lease software, like Novell GroupWise, Microsoft* Office, and Adobe PhotoShop*, to customers and charge on a per user per month basis.

"Novell OnDemand Services has helped us develop a highly scalable, fast-to-market solution for our clients," said George McNulty, director of technology for Wizmo. "A huge requirement for us to be able to host, deliver and charge for value-added content, applications and services is to be able to offer this on a subscription basis. The Novell OnDemand Services flexible consumption- based pricing model allows us to bring our offerings to market more quickly, smoothly and cost- effectively."

Eureka Broadband is a leading service provider in New York and Southern California. They are one of the first building-centric ASPs and premium Internet access companies capable of bundling and extending broadband applications and content, such as software rental, video streaming, business TV, and other unique IT services to its business customers. Leveraging OnDemand, Eureka Broadband will have the flexibility to extend value-added services that reside "in the Net" that can be offered on a time-based or subscription-based rental, versus a yearly or monthly subscription. This will allow Eureka to deliver a pricing model that adapts to individual business needs, which significantly enhances the value of their services and provides a clear competitive advantage.

"We are using a number of Novell products to extend and manage premium in the Net services to our customers, including NetWare, eDirectory, GroupWise, BorderManager and ZENworks," said Vahan Bachmann, vice president, research& development, Eureka Broadband. "Now, with Novell OnDemand Services, which offers, secure web based access, subscription based pricing, and web based billing and reporting functionality for services rendered, we are able to expand our service offerings to include first-rate content, such as software applications and streaming videos, that can be rented directly from our Website anywhere, anytime. This provides convenience and costs savings for customers and allows us to create additional sources of revenue for the company."
