Novell BrainShare 2001: The Future of Business in a One Net World

Novell, Inc., the leading provider of Net services software, today unveiled an array of activities and announced keynote speakers for its upcoming BrainShare® conference, Novell's annual meeting highlighting the technologies that will make businesses run better in the 21st century. Joining Novell® CEO Eric Schmidt at the March 18-23 conference to be held in Salt Lake City will be executives from key Novell industry partners Cap Gemini Ernst& Young, Entrust Technologies and Yahoo!. This year's conference, titled "Those who go, Understand," will showcase the latest Novell Net services software solutions that accelerate eBusiness transitions for customers worldwide. The conference will offer educational sessions on a wide range of new products and technologies from Novell and industry partners, and will include demonstrations of innovative networking and Internet technologies currently under development.

The BrainShare 2001 Technology Lab, known in the industry as a central meeting place to see and discuss the most innovative technologies, will feature a host of technology demos and new products from Novell and industry partners. Keynote Speakers Demonstrate Industry Support for One Net
Momentum is building for Novell's one Net vision as customers adopt and implement solutions based on Novell's Net services software working with products and services from a growing list of key industry partners. BrainShare 2001 keynote addresses will focus on the shared vision of a world in which all types of networks work securely together as one Net.

John Willcutts, vice president and general manager for Yahoo! Enterprise Services will join Novell CEO Eric Schmidt in Monday's general session. "By integrating Novell's industry-leading Novell eDirectory, iChain and other technologies into Corporate Yahoo!, our enterprise information portal solution, we are giving our customers a powerful platform that supports strong security, Web personalization and the ability to deploy an enterprise portal across all leading operating systems," said Willcutts. "BrainShare offers us a forum to share how Novell and Yahoo! are delivering the security and identity management needed to enhance personalization in the enterprise."

Yahoo! Inc. is building the Internet's leading global consumer and business services company, and its enterprise information portal solution is a major focus of that objective.

Cap Gemini Ernst& Young Chief Technology Officer Andy Mulholland will join Darin Richins for Wednesday's general session. One of the largest management and IT consulting firms in the world, Cap Gemini Ernst& Young partners with Novell to provide Net services solutions to customers. The company offers management and IT consulting services, systems integration, and technology development, design and outsourcing capabilities on a global scale to help traditional businesses and "dot companies" continue to implement growth strategies and leverage technology in the new economy.

Also, joining Richins on Wednesday will be acting CEO for Entrust Technologies, Alberto Yepez. Sixteenth Annual Conference Delivers for Local Economy
Over 7,000 people attended U.S. BrainShare 2000 in Salt Lake City, driving an estimated $9 million into the local economy. This year's BrainShare has required a year of planning and preparation and more than 1,200 Novell employees from all over the world to execute. This year's attendees will choose from more than 230 technical sessions repeated throughout the week and will see more than 64,000 square feet of technology demonstrations in the newly expanded Salt Palace Convention Center. More than 3,000 man hours are required to set up the extensive BrainShare Network, which this year will include 36,000 feet of network cable, 2,000 computers, and a wireless network that will connect more than 1,500 show participants using laptop computers and hand-held devices. More than 100,000 pounds of food will be consumed by attendees and the conference will fill hotels to capacity throughout the valley. Entertainment this year will include an exclusive evening in the Delta Center with Earth, Wind, and Fire.
