Novell Selected as Technology Partner for Lockheed Martin Global Telecommunications

Novell Net services software to be integrated into services delivery platform

6 June 2001

Novell, Inc., the leading provider of Net services software, today announced that Lockheed Martin Global Telecommunications (LMGT) has selected Novell's software to be integrated into eBusiness solutions and services that LMGT offers to global customers. LMGT will use Novell's identity and network management solution, Novell® NDS® eDirectory™, for user and network resource management for its customers' enterprises and Internet businesses.

LMGT focuses on market opportunities created by the convergence of telecommunications and information technology, known as Infocom. LMGT offers single-source solutions for connectivity, network services, infrastructure management and applications solutions. LMGT selected eDirectory to enable its customers to access their network resources, data and information, as well as to centralize the management of these resources. eDirectory will allow LMGT to create tailored intranet experiences for each user based on individual identities and profiles. LMGT's customers will immediately be able to identify any user and provide services depending on the user's company, location and access level, all on the Web from a single, centralized point of management. Because eDirectory scales to support more than one billion objects, it supports customer deployments of virtually unlimited sizes. Novell offers the industry's most open, secure, scalable and cross-platform Net services software with the ability to blur the lines between intranets, extranets and the Internet creating one Net.

"As eBusiness requirements proliferate, large enterprises need to communicate via secure and well-designed Internet-based strategies. This includes all points of contact, such as internal customers, subsidiaries, agents and other third parties," said Robert Lisowski, vice president of business development for LMGT's Systems& Technology business.

"Lockheed Martin Global Telecommunications is leveraging its experience in systems engineering and integration capabilities for companies around the world to bring about a new kind of solution that takes full advantage of broadband and wireless networks and services," said Paul Smart, vice president and general manager of Novell's Net Directory business. "LMGT understands the important role of eDirectory as the Internet infrastructure foundation for this new breed of solutions."
