Novell, Inc., a leader in eBusiness solutions and Net services software, today announced industry analyst findings that give top marks to Novell® ZENworks®, Novell's industry-leading network management software. Giga Information Group's recent report, "Desktop Management Tools - Which One Is the Best?," named ZENworks the top desktop management tool on the market.

In addition, a recently released IDC white paper sponsored by Novell, "Quantifying the Business Benefits of Directory-Based Desktop Management," found that ZENworks gave customers an average three-year return on investment (ROI) of 2,039 percent and a payback time of less than three months. Average savings over a three-year period from deploying ZENworks have a net present value of $1.24 million per company.

In its white paper, IDC conducted a survey of IT managers at organizations using ZENworks in order to determine the impact of deploying a directory-based desktop management suite. The white paper stated, "Overall, the benefits of deploying ZENworks included increased productivity among users and network administrators, lower total cost of ownership, reduced turnover rates with help desk and other IT personnel, and higher user satisfaction with the IT department. In addition, for companies with a structured approach to deploying IT technology, the deployment time for ZENworks was as short as 5.8 days, so the benefits began to flow almost immediately."

"It is always satisfying to receive third-party validation of the valuable solutions Novell is providing to customers, and even more so when that validation comes from respected and knowledgeable industry watchers like Giga and IDC," said Brad Anderson, Novell's ZENworks business unit manager. "Our ZENworks customers gain more than 25 percent in IT staff productivity for desktop and server management and reduce user downtime by close to 36 percent. With the release of ZENworks for Desktops 3.2 and ZENworks' recent recognition by Network Computing magazine as the best directory-based application and software delivery and desktop management system, Novell is demonstrating its continued commitment to superior desktop management solutions."

Novell's ZENworks for Desktops and ZENworks for Servers give organizations a cost-effective end-to-end management system for their entire network, providing automated policy-based management of all an organization's network computers, desktops and servers. ZENworks leverages the enterprise-wide power of Novell NDS® eDirectory to create policies that can be tailored to individual and group needs while still enforcing organizational standards. This greatly simplifies IT tasks, lowering the costs associated with desktop and server management while reducing the potential for errors and inconsistencies. ZENworks also provides a complete cross-platform, enterprise-wide software distribution system that is flexible, powerful and simple to use.
