Centralis® software improves links between Novell Net services software and Citrix® MetaFrame® software

Updated Centralis Toolset further improves integration options for Citrix& Novell users

10 January 2002

Centralis, a Novell® Solutions Partner and Premier-level member of the Citrix Business Alliance™ (CBA), today announced the launch of a feature release to the Centralis Toolset, a collection of software designed to maximize the benefits of Novell's ZENworks® for Desktops and improve integration with Citrix® MetaFrame® server-based computing environments.

"ZENworks for Desktops makes the lives of administrators and end-users easier. Centralis AXE complements ZENworks for Desktops and together they further minimize the risk, accelerate the deployment cycle and make administrators and end-users lives easier for the deployment of new applications," said Martin Buckley, ZENworks for Desktops product manager at Novell.

"Centralis is committed to the promotion of server-based computing solutions, supporting Citrix at major events in Europe and the US. Their software development skills and knowledge of directory solutions add significant value to the server-based computing environment. This latest software release shows how Centralis is using their investment in research and development around the integration of Citrix and Novell technologies to develop innovative new products," said James McNab, director, Strategic Alliances, EMEA at Citrix Systems.

Centralis Toolset

Designed and used by Centralis consultants to overcome the real-world problems of large-scale application deployment and systems integration issues, the Toolset includes Centralis AXE, Contex and Lyncx.

Centralis AXE allows ZENworks administrators to create processing rules in both desktop PC and server-based computing environments which simplify, standardize and accelerate application deployment. The new feature release allows administrators to analyze file version compatibility with their environment before deploying software, predicting and detailing potential conflicts.

To coincide with the release, a new set of AXE processing rules have been loaded onto the Centralis website, bringing the product up to date with the latest experience of Centralis consultants working with Windows 2000 deployments. Rules updates are available free of charge to registered AXE users.

Centralis Contex for AD is a brand new product, which allows management of users settings for Terminal Server, Citrix MetaFrame and RAS Dial-in on a per user basis, extending into Active Directory the support for template users and multi-user editing introduced by Contex for NT.

Centralis Lyncx is a free utility which allows administrators to automatically create Aliases for selected or all users and was developed to assist setting up contextless login to a Novell eDirectory™ and Windows Terminal Server / MetaFrame environment.

Benefits

"Centralis software already benefits well over 1,500 companies worldwide," said Ewen Anderson, Business Development Manager at Centralis. "This updated Toolset further reduces the management costs for Novell administrators. Centralis AXE provides ZENworks for Desktops managers a huge time saving whenever applications need to be snapshotted."

Anderson continues, "For customers running Citrix MetaFrame, the updated Toolset also greatly improves ZENworks based application deployment across the server farm, and integrates management of key user settings into the familiar Novell management tools."
