Novell Enhances Partner Communications via Customized eDirectory-Based Portal

16 September 2002

With thousands of business partners worldwide in its PartnerNet program, Novell faces the ongoing challenge of providing its channel and corporate partners with accurate, timely information and the tools they require to effectively pursue new opportunities. Tapping the customization power of its eDirectory technology, Novell now gives PartnerNet members what they need, when they need it, securely and quickly.

Previously, Novell's partners could access resources they needed from a common Web page, which contained basic information for partners regardless of their location or the level of their involvement with Novell. Reflecting the diverse nature of its partners, Novell needed a solution that would not only continue to provide a centralized location for PartnerNet members but also offer country - and program-specific customization based on the user's profile. While granting partners a new level of personalization and heightened functionality, the solution also needed to ensure the highest level of security.

The PartnerNet portal - built using Novell's portal, eDirectory, and iChain technologies - provides this customized, secure web experience for PartnerNet members. With the PartnerNet portal, users now have the ability to access the most up-to-date information, applications and network services, regardless of their location or device. The PartnerNet portal automatically manages user access, content presentation and overall administration, all based on user profiles stored in eDirectory. PartnerNet members can immediately access information on promotions, training, the latest news, events in their area, sales and marketing tools and feedback channels.

"We are extremely pleased with Novell's new PartnerNet portal," said Sandra Harrell, President of DSI Consulting, Inc, Novell Platinum Integrator and Consulting Partner. "All of the information we need to successfully deliver a Novell solution, from both the sales and technical perspective, is right there for us. Our ability to immediately access all of the most up-to-date sales training materials has also made life much easier for us."
