New service extends Novell's strength in secure identity management to applications built on IBM's widely deployed WebSphere MQ

Novell is shipping a new service that extends its strength in secure identity management to applications built on IBM's WebSphere MQ business integration software, which is used by two-thirds of the top 100 North American and European banks, numerous government agencies and many other industries. The service strikes at the heart of a key business problem:
How can companies ensure that their numerous systems, applications and databases are operating with the most current information about users, whether partners, customers or employees? Consistent, up-to-date user identity information is important not only in keeping management costs low, but also to ensure security across the network.
According to Novell Canada's Director of Technology, Ross Chevalier, the new service - the Novell DirXML Driver for WebSphere MQ - solves this problem by "ensuring that a consistent, dynamic view of every user is reflected across all WebSphere-based systems, as well as other enterprise applications such as directories, e-mail and human resources."
With this driver, for example, businesses can now integrate the user identity information in a legacy customer billing system running on a mainframe with other applications throughout the enterprise - allowing all of those systems to know a customer's status with the company. Customers who consistently make on-time payments could be granted access to additional services or affinity programs.
The DirXML Driver for WebSphere MQ is available today for approximately $16 (CDN) per user.
