Novell, Inc., a leader in eBusiness solutions and Net services software, today announced that the company's market-leading directory software, Novell® eDirectory™, is the first directory to be certified for use with the SAP® Web Application Server. The certification acknowledges the proven integration of eDirectory and the SAP Web Application Server, which is the user and management interface for all mySAP.com® eBusiness platform solutions. In addition, Novell's DirXML™ Driver for SAP HR, which integrates user identity information among the mySAP™ Human Resources (mySAP HR) application, eDirectory and other enterprise systems, has also been validated by SAP and will be available to customers in January 2002. With these steps, Novell becomes a member of the SAP Software Partner Program.

As the first certified directory for the SAP Web Application Server, eDirectory is ideally suited as the repository for SAP user-identity information. eDirectory simplifies the management of those identities, lowering administration costs, and centrally stores all user access rights, enhancing security. The DirXML Driver for SAP HR is then able to synchronize user information in mySAP HR with other enterprise applications, laying the foundation for eProvisioning solutions. These solutions are designed to automate the process of creating, modifying and maintaining user identity profiles and access privileges across business applications. Using DirXML to link enterprise systems like SAP eBusiness applications, eDirectory, Oracle*, Lotus Notes*, etc., customers are able to update one central data repository and have those changes replicated to all other critical systems based on their unique business rules.

"SAP certification of eDirectory and the upcoming delivery of the DirXML Driver for SAP HR demonstrate one of Novell's core value propositions: Net services software products that leverage and integrate with a customer's current technology investment, no rip and replace required," said Paul Smart, vice president and general manager of Novell's Net Directory business. "Also, Novell's lead over other LDAP directory vendors in interoperability with the SAP Web Application Server demonstrates the maturity of eDirectory and its readiness to solve business problems today."

Novell eDirectory is available from Novell channel partners, Novell Consultant and System Integrator partners or directly from Novell by calling (888) 321-4272.
