Novell appoints Ronald W. Hovsepian as President, North America

Proven IBM executive brings extensive and diverse general management expertise in IT solutions strategy, sales, marketing and business development Will lead all sales and marketing activity in Novell's North America territory

Novell announced today that Ronald W. Hovsepian has been appointed president, North America, effective immediately. In this role, he will be responsible for leading all aspects of Novell's operations in its North America business unit and will become a member of the company's worldwide management committee. He will report to Jack L. Messman, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Novell, Inc. Hovsepian assumes the position held by H. Carvel Moore, who has left the company.

A veteran of twenty years in the technology sector, Hovsepian, 42, has significant experience leading sales and marketing organizations focused on delivering IT solutions for enterprises across a wide spectrum of industries, including retail, consumer packaged goods and wholesale. He spent more than seventeen years at IBM Corporation, including three years as worldwide general manager of Industry Solutions in the retail sector from 1998 - 2001. With stints in various sales and marketing positions prior to taking profit and loss responsibility at several IBM units, he brings a proven track record of achieving revenue goals and profit growth in the IT solutions business. More recently, he was managing an investment team overseeing the top 30 investments for the Internet Capital Group (ICG), serving on the senior executive team for investments, and working directly with many of the companies in which ICG invested to help them grow.

At IBM, Hovsepian held various sales, marketing and managerial positions, including director of Consumer Driven Solutions and vice president, Global Supply Chain Solutions, prior to his role as worldwide general manager of Industry Solutions. Following that, he served as managing director, Operations, at Internet Capital Group. He is currently a member of the board of directors of the Ann Taylor Corporation.

Hovsepian received a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Boston College. He resides in Holliston, Massachusetts, with his wife and their four children.
