Partnership will Provide True Single Sign-On Across Enterprise Networks, Applications and the Web
Novell, Inc. and Passlogix today announced plans to develop and deliver integrated technologies that will enable universal single sign-on across all networks and leading operating environments. Products resulting from this joint development effort will enable users to log in onceusing a single, existing NDS eDirectory password to their network or the Internet and automatically log into virtually any other application or Web destination requiring a password.
Passlogix's v-GO single sign-on technology will be integrated into future Novell Net services software products to further extend the power and flexibility of NDS eDirectory across the entire enterprise and Net infrastructure. Partnering with Passlogix, with its broad single sign-on application support, provides users with a single sign-on solution that does not require them to modify their applications or develop custom interfaces.
"The real value of a single sign-on solution is the number of applications and web destinations that it can log the user into," said Dave Shirk, senior vice president of product management for Novell. "Partnering with Passlogix accelerates our ability to deliver the benefits of directory-enabled single sign-on products to a greater number of applications in our customers' mission critical networks."
Previously, Novell's Single Sign-on product required a connector to be written individually for each application. Passlogix has developed its v-GO product to address login requests from Windows-based, mainframe and Web applications more universally. Integrating the two companies' single sign-on technologies with Novell's NDS eDirectory offers a higher level of security and reduced administration costs to password management.
"We are delighted to earn Novell's recognition as an optimal solution to the growing sign-on challenge," said Marc Boroditsky, CEO of Passlogix. "By partnering our technology with Novell's leading Net services products, we offer enterprise customers true single sign-on with ease of implementation, rapid deployment, and cost efficiency."
Both companies anticipate that the partnership will expand to additional initiatives over time with the goal of providing best-of-breed directory-enabled solutions upon which companies can build their Net infrastructures.
Pricing and Availability
Pricing, packaging and distribution details regarding the single sign-on products resulting from this partnership will be announced later this year. Further technology details on the future versions of Novell Single-Sign-on will be previewed at Novell's BrainShare conference the week of March 27, 2000.
