Novell Declares March Certification Month by Featuring New Online Training and Advanced Testing Technology for Net Professionals Worldwide

Governors in 32 States and the District of Columbia Also Declare March 2000 as Certification Month

13 March 2000

Novell, Inc., the leading provider of Net services software, is commemorating its sixth-annual "Novell Certification Month" in March by announcing the availability of two innovations in training and testing — Novell Education's online training initiatives and the advanced testing technology of the Novell Practicum. Available now online, the Novell Learning Zone features mentoring, labs and access to additional training resources. The Novell Practicum, available in the next 30 days, is a live, hands-on lab assessment that uses real-world situations to test the application of a Net professional's practical skills and knowledge.

"We are using the latest Net services software and resources of the Net to deliver universal training across traditional boundaries," said Debbie Maucieri, vice president of Novell Education. "Building on our information technology (IT) education expertise, Novell continues to introduce advances in training such as the Novell Practicum and online training to provide users the power and flexibility they need to succeed in the Net economy."

The Novell Practicum will initially be used in conjunction with Novell's recently introduced Certified Directory Engineer(SM) program to ensure that professionals are proficient in directory technology. Using remote access into a live network, individuals around the world are tested on their ability to restore a directory system back to a healthy operating state within a specified time limit. The Novell Practicum will be available in the next 30 days through a limited number of authorized Novell testing centers.

Novell's online training initiatives include the Novell Learning Zone, which offers online mentoring through direct access to certification experts as well as to a community of other certification candidates. Novell also recently introduced the Novell Online Training Provider(SM) program, placing its successful education channel model online. Novell Online Training Providers integrate Novell's self-study product line with online instructor interaction, lab experience and access to additional Novell Education resources via the Net. More information about the Novell Learning Zone and the Novell Practicum can be found at http://www.novell.com/education.
