Novell garners inaugural VARBusiness award for overall top technology innovation ZENworks 6 chosen as overall top product and top enterprise application Novell Nterprise Linux Services a finalist in the Linux category
Novell, a leader in solutions that deliver secure identity management, Web application development and cross-platform networking services, has been recognized by VARBusiness magazine for outstanding achievement in technology innovation. Novell won the highest honor in the inaugural VARBusiness Tech Innovators competition, being named the overall Top Innovator for its Novell® ZENworks® 6 resource management solution. ZENworks, which lets customers manage and secure devices and applications across heterogeneous networks, also received the Tech Innovators Choice award for an enterprise solution in the "Non-Web services" category, while Novell Nterprise™ Linux Services was a finalist in the Linux category. VARBusiness magazine, which covers the business of technology integration, honored Novell at an awards event held on Oct. 27, 2003, in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Novell garnered the overall Top Innovator award for having the most highly rated of some 400 products considered by the judges - ZENworks 6. "ZENworks 6 outpaced all the other products nominated across all categories, and by a wide margin," said VARBusiness Technology Editor David Strom, who oversaw the competition.
ZENworks 6 and Novell Nterprise Linux Services were among more than 400 entries submitted by nearly 250 companies in eight technology categories. "Innovations like those we've seen from Novell demonstrate the vibrancy and vitality of the technology industry," VARBusiness Editorial Director Robert C. DeMarzo said. "They represent breakthroughs for our solution-provider readers."
"Novell has a strong history of technology leadership," said Chris Stone, vice chairman, office of the CEO of Novell. "We helped invent local area networking back in the early 1980s, and continue to innovate today in areas like identity and resource management, and in driving open source into the enterprise. Our solution provider partners can be confident that we'll continue to provide best-of-breed technology going forward, giving them new opportunities to build more business, increase profitability, and become strategic partners to their customers. "
Novell will be recognized in the VARBusiness Dec. 15 "State of Technology" issue, which will include profiles, features and in-depth explanations of the technologies and products.
