GWAVA, Novell's largest GroupWise partner, announced today a live online debate
GWAVA, Novell's largest GroupWise partner, announced today a live online debate comparing and contrasting two of the most important messaging and workgroup solutions in the information technology (IT) market today: Novell GroupWise 7- and Microsoft Exchange 2007 - .
The debate webinar, sponsored by GWAVA and Vcall will be held live on March 1, 2007 at 1 pm EST / 10 am PST.
This is the second debate between GroupWise and Exchange. The first time GroupWise and Exchange squared-off, over 1,600 people attended the event. Michael Osterman, president of Osterman Research, will share new data from Osterman Research's recently published multi-client study, Enterprise
Messaging Market Trends, 2006-2009. Osterman will also moderate a debate between speakers representing both solutions. Richard Bliss, chief marketing officer for GWAVA, will represent Novell GroupWise; the Microsoft Exchange speaker is not yet confirmed.
"Microsoft Exchange and Novell GroupWise are two of the most widely used messaging systems in the workplace today" said Osterman."Our goal in hosting this debate is to present expert information on each platform and to provide a forum where webinar attendees can ask questions and learn which platform best meets their business needs moving forward."
th the recent release of the Microsoft Vista operating system and the new Exchange 2007, many IT departments have been considering which platform should be adopted in the future. Early reports on Exchange 2007 suggest that the new platform requires a complete reinstall of the entire messaging
infrastructure including migrating of of a company's data. In contrast, GroupWise 7, Novell's latest version of its GroupWise collaborations and workgroup solution, has acquired Microsoft Exchange customers based on what some have noted are substantial cost and infrastructure challenges posed by migrating to Exchange 2007.
