Collaborative workspace application helps IT and people work as one
Novell today announced the general availability of Novell® Teaming 2, a next-generation collaborative application that brings people, projects and processes together in a single location to increase efficiency and foster innovation. With new features including enhanced workflows, relevance dashboards and branded workspaces, Novell Teaming rounds out the company’s suite of collaboration solutions and allows employees to generate, act on and preserve ideas and information to maximize enterprise productivity.
Novell Teaming was recently recognized as a leader in the August 2009 Forrester Research, Inc. report, The Forrester Wave: Collaboration Platforms, Q3 2009. In evaluating Novell Teaming, the report states, "Teaming brings very strong capabilities for workspaces and collaborative application development, particularly in the area of workflow."
Team and Personal Workspaces Utilizing the Novell Teaming search engine and Web 2.0-based communication tools, such as wikis and blogs, Novell Teaming allows users to tap into an organization's expertise and knowledge resources in real time. Through a single, always-available team workspace, customers, such as Kempinski Hotels, Louisiana Department of Social Service and Viable, Inc., can create and impact documents, co-author content, collaborate on edits and input and easily manage version control. They can also build workflows to streamline group input and approval procedures as well as automate project processes. Additionally, end-users can organize their individual work and team activity in a personal workspace that provides a consolidated dashboard to track and manage all projects and enables them to quickly launch into any of those spaces with a single click.
Preserve and leverage ideasBy combining data tags with a powerful search engine, Novell Teaming allows enterprises to preserve and access corporate intellectual property. This process allows organizations to continually leverage competitive intelligence and store informational assets to ensure that collective corporate knowledge is never lost and can be accessed at any time. Within Teaming, documents, electronic messages, conversations and community knowledge are all stored in a single workspace built with integrated identity and security controls.
New features in Novell Teaming include:
"Today's global enterprises rely on the creative mindshare of individuals, teams and even customers. However, without the right tools to uncover and develop that information, businesses can waste valuable time, putting them at a competitive disadvantage," said Kent Erickson, senior vice president and general manager for the Workgroup Solutions at Novell. "Designed to help users innovate, Novell Teaming enables enterprises to put insight into action and drive productivity forward."
