Borland Silk Test delivers dynamic test process improvements
INFOPRO, the global banking solutions provider, has upgraded its test automation solution to support the latest version of its flagship eICBA Banking System with Silk Test from Borland, a Micro Focus company (LSE: MCRO.L). The solution, which supports the eICBA system running on a new Java-based platform, has delivered dramatic process and productivity improvements, which could be as high as 90 percent.
INFOPRO’s world-class eICBA Banking System delivers the full spectrum of conventional, Islamic and electronic banking solutions to retail and commercial banks and other financial institution customers. The enterprise-wide solution handles large transaction volumes on a 24x7 basis - essential for bank customers’ always-on lifestyles. INFOPRO needed a fully automated test management solution to support the latest version of eCIBA10. The introduction of new Java-based platforms also increased its test coverage requirements, where comprehensive testing for the data-driven automation test would need exception handling, field verifications and data variations.
“We needed a more effective, reliable and robust regression testing tool to handle our rapid and agile development cycle,” said Mr Mohd Ruslan, Head of Quality Assurance at INFOPRO. “We chose Silk Test from Borland and it has delivered dramatic results. We were able to maintain our existing investment, reusing our existing test scripts without redeveloping them. Test script execution is more consistent, faster and includes more test data. Plus the fully automated test process also enables us to respond faster to client customization requests.”
Commenting on the productivity benefits automated testing brings to INFOPRO, Mr Ruslan added: “Assuming if manual regression testing of some standard functions in our application requires 100 man days, using test automation with Silk Test we can accomplish it within 10 man days. In other words savings can be as high as 90 percent.”
According to Ms Priscilla Leong, Executive Vice President of INFOPRO, Silk Test enables INFOPRO to maintain its high standards: “Being a Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Level 5 rated organization, the productivity and product quality improvements that we derive from test automation is a strong value-add to our process excellence journey.
“We reviewed and evaluated many test automation solutions on the market, but in the end we felt Borland is a reputable and trusted vendor who has been in the software market for many years with a good track record, which was key to our decision,” added Ms Leong. “The results have impressed our company and our clients. We are able to rapidly respond to changing business requirements and using the latest technologies gives us the confidence we need for the future.”
Silk Test is part of the Borland Silk Portfolio - a comprehensive set of quality and performance tools for desktop, web, cloud and mobile.
