Novell, Inc., the leading provider of Net business solutions, today announced it is shipping Yahoo! Portal Solutions for building content-rich corporate portals (see http://www.novell.com/news/press/archive/2001/09/pr01088.html). Yahoo! Portal Solutions is a combination of enterprise-class portal builder software and world-class content. Co-developed with TIBCO Software, Yahoo! PortalBuilder 4.0 software provides the foundation for a complete portal solution - a scalable, reliable technology platform on which to build, manage and run enterprise-class business-to-business, -employee and -consumer portals. Open, Java-based and fully J2EE-compliant, Yahoo! PortalBuilder is virtually platform-agnostic and vendor-neutral. Yahoo! PortalBuilder delivers all key portal software requirements, such as content aggregation, application integration, rich personalization and flexible presentation. Fast and easy for portal administrators to set up and maintain, a Yahoo!-powered portal can be up and running in weeks rather than months.
The content component of Yahoo! Portal Solutions, the My Yahoo! Enterprise Package, allows enterprise customers using Yahoo! PortalBuilder to seamlessly blend more than 75 popular My Yahoo! modules into their corporate portals. These modules draw on more than 2,000 content sources from 24 countries in 12 languages and include popular content and applications such as headline news, business and company news, stock portfolios, weather, sports, travel, notepad and calendar.
Yahoo! PortalBuilder includes Novell eDirectory, which provides an infrastructure that enhances security and access control when used with other Novell solutions such as Novell iChain, Novell Account Management and Novell Secure Access. By integrating Novell Portal Services 1.5, other Novell solutions are easily incorporated into the portal environment through a standard Web services protocol, including GroupWise, Novell iFolder, ZENworks for Desktops, ZENworks OnDemand Services and iPrint.
"Portals that combine high-value business and personal content from beyond the firewall with internal content, applications and services create a complete experience that drives portal success," said Larry Russon, Novell Portal Solutions product manager. "Without that complete experience, users inevitably go elsewhere. Tight integration with the Yahoo! network brings users to the portal and keeps them coming back day after day."
Yahoo! Portal Solutions is available through Novell Authorized Resellers and solution providers for a suggested $69 per user license.
