Micro Focus is pleased to announce the availability of ZENworks 2017 Update 3. This update is all about unifying IT operations—from tracking assets and configuring devices to implementing security and protecting your workforce.
ZENworks 2017 Update 3 includes the following new features and enhancements:
This release supports the following new platforms:
This support enables IT can to create a secure work profile on the device and then deploy applications to that secure space. All of the data used by those applications is kept separate and can be managed and wiped from the ZENworks Configuration Management console.
This enhancement addresses the #1 priority of customers: support for the latest Windows hardware. The addition of this support ensures that any device that runs Windows 10 can be imaged with our solution.
A new ZENworks Endpoint Security Management policy allows you to manage USB devices using the BitLocker capabilities built into Windows, providing enhanced usability for encrypted USB devices.
ZENworks Full Disk Encryption can now encrypt all of the devices on a managed device rather than only the first one, which fully secures the device.
ZENworks is now able to identify applications installed by users as well as those installed by ZENworks. This means your IT organization will know which applications are being used and which ones are managed.
When a user leaves the organization, if their iOS device is registered with Find My iPhone, you typically need their iCloud credentials to wipe and re-enroll the device. Activation lock bypass allows you to reset the device by providing a code generated by Apple, so that the device isn't bricked if you don't know the user's credentials.
With ZENworks Configuration Management 2017 Update 1, you can now pre-provision mobile device management profiles for DEP (Device Enrollment Program) devices, integrate with the iOS Configurator for non-DEP devices, use added Device Control settings to restrict Supervision-enabled devices, and preconfigure ZENworks-distributed managed apps.
With ZENworks Full Disk Encryption 2017 Update 1, you can now implement FDE on newer Windows devices that use UEFI-based firmware and GPT-based disks. And with improved auditing, you can even prove that lost or stolen devices were encrypted.
ZENworks 2017 Update 1 now allows your users to experience more seamless access to corporate information via Microsoft DirectAccess capabilities. It also now enables your managed devices to access servers over IPv6, helping you move into the future of IP with confidence.
With ZENworks Configuration Management 2017 Update 1, you can now quickly identify rogue application instances that users have installed on your PCs outside of ZENworks. So you can now prevent these applications from putting your organization at risk.
ZENworks Patch Management 2017 Update 1 allows you to access the dashboard without cumbersome plug-ins, so you can now view patch-status snapshots from any modern browser on both traditional and mobile devices. It also prevents vendor-superseded patches from being automatically disabled in the system.
ZENworks Configuration Management vs. Micro Focus Mobile Management
With the release of ZENworks Configuration Management (ZCM) 2017, ZCM now includes Mobile Device Management (MDM) capabilities for iOS, Android and ActiveSync devices. As the first release, ZENworks 2017 offers a base set of capabilities that are critical to our customers. Over the next several updates additional capabilities will be added to the ZCM product, making it a robust Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) solution.
Update 1 introduced Apple’s Device Enrollment Program (DEP) and Configuration for iOS Applications.
Update 2, which will be released beginning of January 2018, will introduce Android for Work Containerization, mobile Device Inventory and supports OS Activation Lock bypass code management. Upcoming features with Update 2 are marked blue.
As you may be aware, Micro Focus also sells a standalone MDM solution—Micro Focus Mobile Management (MFMM). This solution provides an alternate architecture, management console, and capabilities. Because not all of the capabilities in MFMM are currently available in ZCM, both products will be offered for some time to come. This purpose of this feature chart is to help you understand the capabilities of each of these solutions so that you can identify the one that meets your needs. Going forward the majority of MFMM capabilities are expected to be integrated into the ZCM product.
