Novell Extends Enterprise Linux Management Leadership

Updated ZENworks Linux Management is the only solution to deliver policy-based, full lifecycle management with support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux and SUSE Linux Enterprise 10 customers

19 March 2007

Novell today announced the availability of Novell® ZENworks® 7.2 Linux Management, giving customers a powerful new option for their enterprise Linux* management needs. This latest version, which includes support for SUSE® Linux Enterprise 10 from Novell and Red Hat* Enterprise Linux, is the only policy-based solution on the market that offers multi-vendor Linux support. It also includes full lifecycle management to help customers deploy, manage and maintain their Linux resources. With expanded platform support and enhanced management capabilities, ZENworks Linux Management enables customers to reduce the time and cost spent managing their Linux systems.

This release of ZENworks Linux Management simplifies administration with improved controls that enable customers to quickly and easily install, update and manage their systems. It also includes enterprise platform support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 and 4, as well as support for hardware running SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10, including Itanium*, Power PC* and zSeries*. Remote server capabilities are now integrated with the online Novell Customer Center for streamlined SUSE Linux Enterprise Server updates and Linux subscription management. This enhanced functionality, which complements existing YaST setup tools from Novell, allows administrators to securely configure and update multiple machines running behind the firewall from their ZENworks server, saving them time and effort.

Dell continues to partner with Novell to round out its systems management solutions by offering its own ZENworks Linux Management Dell Edition directly to Dell customers.

"Integrated hardware and software system management, based on open standards, reduces the cost and complexity of Linux management," said Subo Guha, director of marketing for Enterprise Software and Systems Management at Dell.
