Starting and Stopping the Network

All communications with z/OS servers are handled by the ZDD network service. The ZDD network service automatically starts when you sign in to Windows and stops when you sign out.

The ZDD network service also manages your user settings. The service loads your user settings from a settings file when it starts, and saves your settings when it stops.

There may be certain situations when you might want to start or stop the ZDD network service manually:

  • Your user settings were stored in a network location that was not available when the network service started.

  • Your server network connections are hung and you want to reset everything to clear the hang or to clear some other error condition.

To start or stop the ZDD network service, right click on the ZDD Network icon, and select one of the following commands from the popup menu:

  • Start network
  • Stop network
