Columns Page

File Explorer allows customized columns in the Details view. ChangeMan ZDD provides the following sets of customized columns:

  • Data set information

  • Member information

  • Unix information

  • Job information

  • Job output (spool data set) information

  • ChangeMan application information

  • ChangeMan package information

  • ChangeMan library type information

  • ChangeMan promotion level information

  • ChangeMan promotion library information

  • ChangeMan package component information

  • ChangeMan release information

  • ChangeMan release area information

  • ChangeMan release application information

  • ChangeMan release changes component information

  • ChangeMan release summary component information

Columns can be selected for a folder type or an individual folder; individual settings override those set for the folder type.

Note

In the Modified column for the package folder, the date is the install date of the package, but the time is always 12:00 A.M. However, the Modified column for the package component displays the date and time that the component was last updated.

Select Columns for Folder Types

You can set the default columns that will display for each folder type on the Columns page of the ZDD Network Properties.

For each folder type, check the columns that you want to see by default in File Explorer Details view.

To restore the original default columns, click Restore Defaults.

Select Columns for Individual Folders

Columns can also be selected at the individual folder level and will override those selected for the folder type.

  1. In File Explorer, open the folder that you want to customize.

  2. In the list view (right pane), right click on the column headings bar. You can select columns from the dropdown menu.

Change Explorer Settings

File Explorer settings may need to be changed for the default column settings to work correctly:

  1. Windows 10: On the View tab of the ribbon, click on the Options button, and select "Change folders and search options” from the dropdown menu.

  2. Select the View tab in the Folder Options dialog box.

  3. Click Reset All Folders.

    Note

This will restore all folder settings that were in effect when Windows was installed.

This option undoes the effect of the Like Current Folder option. (The Like Current Folder option makes all folders have the same columns as the current view. This overrides the default columns and does not work well because ChangeMan ZDD uses different sets of columns for different types of folders.)

  4. From the Advanced settings list box, clear the Remember each folder's view settings box. (If this setting is selected, Explorer will remember each folder's columns and ignore the default columns once the columns are initially set for a particular folder).

    Note

You can omit this step if you want to maintain different column settings for each folder. If this setting is enabled, the default columns are used only the first time you open a folder. Subsequently changing default columns would have no effect on folders you have already viewed. You would then have to change each of those folders individually.
